Nikolay Markov

Nikolay Markov is a Lecturer in Finance at the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) and the Geneva Finance Research Institute (GFRI) at the University of Geneva since Fall 2022. He concurrently serves as a Senior Economist at Pictet Asset Management, specializing in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and advanced economies, and as a Central Banks analyst. Prior to Pictet, he worked at the Swiss National Bank’s Monetary Policy Analysis Unit, researching monetary policy rules for Switzerland. Before that, he was a teaching and research assistant at the University of Geneva. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Geneva and a certificate from the Swiss National Bank’s doctoral program in Gerzensee.

His expertise spans Macroeconomics, Monetary Policy, Central Banking, Econometrics, and Finance. He also teaches International Macroeconomics in executive programs at the University of Geneva. His research contributions include publications in journals such as the German Economic Review and presentations at international academic conferences.
