Nikolas Jaspert is a Professor of Medieval History at Heidelberg University's Department of History, affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy. As a HCIAS Joint Professor, he contributes to the HCIAS Research Focus 2 on Ibero-America and bridges the university's 'Cultural Dynamics in Globalized Worlds' research focus. His work emphasizes the Mediterranean region, transcultural relationships, and medieval Iberian language/literature.
Research interests include medieval Mediterranean history, transcultural exchange, and material culture's role in cultural memory.
