Florida International Universityمعرفی
Dr. Nikolaos Tsoukias is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University (FIU), where he leads the Vascular Physiology and Biotransport Lab. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (1994) and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of California, Irvine (1999). After a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he joined FIU in 2003. His research focuses on computational modeling of cardiovascular and respiratory systems, with emphasis on biotransport, signal transduction, and neuromuscular coupling. His work has been supported by the NIH and American Heart Association, yielding over 50 peer-reviewed publications and two patents.
Key achievements include the 2006 Arthur C. Gyuton Award for excellence in integrative physiology. His lab explores mechanisms like neurovascular coupling in brain capillaries, ion channel regulation, and the role of pericytes in cerebral blood flow. Dr. Tsoukias is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Microcirculatory Society, and American Physiological Society.
