Nikolaos Olma

Nikolaos Olma is Assistant Professor of Social Anthropology at University of the Aegean specializing in anthropology of social change. His research examines socio-economic transformations in post-Soviet contexts through ethnographic studies in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Poland.

Olma's current project explores uranium mining legacies in Mailuu-Suu, Kyrgyzstan, investigating knowledge politics and environmental injustice. His doctoral research analyzed embodied memory and urban infrastructure in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

He has held positions at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Freie Universität Berlin, and Leibniz research institutes. Olma participates in ERC project ANTHEFT and co-convenes EASA Anthropology of Economy Network.
