Nikolaos Michalopoulos is a Professor of Environmental Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Crete, since 2003. He serves as Director of the Institute for Environmental Research and Sustainable Development (IERSD) at the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) and Vice President of NOA since 2013. His career includes visiting professorships at Sapporo University (Japan), Max-Planck Institute (Germany), and the Cyprus Institute.
