Nikolaos Koukopoulos is a Research Fellow in Technology-Facilitated Abuse (Tech Abuse) in Intimate Partner Violence Contexts at UCL Computer Science. His work focuses on the perpetration of tech-enabled abuse, with prior experience in crime analysis at the UK National Crime Agency and child sexual abuse material research at the University of Edinburgh.
Education:
- PhD in Psychology, University of Edinburgh (dissertation on offender behavior in CSAM possession)
- MSc in Criminological Psychology, University of Birmingham
- BSc in Psychology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
Research Interests: Forensic psychology, criminology, cybercrime prevention, ethical technology use, and online safety. He explores how technology enables abuse in intimate relationships and develops strategies to combat digital exploitation.
His publications analyze behavioral deterrence mechanisms, public health interventions against CSAM, and challenges in preventing cyber-enabled crimes. Current work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality) and 16 (Peace, Justice & Institutions).
