معرفی
Prof. Nikolai Leopold is an Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics at the School of Computer Science & Engineering, Constructor University Bremen. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2018) under Prof. Peter Pickl. Prior to his current position, he was a postdoc at IST Austria (2018-2020) under Prof. Robert Seiringer and at the University of Basel (2020-2025) under Prof. Chiara Saffirio. His research focuses on rigorous mathematical analysis of quantum systems, particularly effective evolution equations and their derivations from complex many-body quantum dynamics.
Research Interests: Functional analysis, partial differential equations, semiclassical analysis, non-relativistic quantum field models, and kinetic equations. His work bridges quantum mechanics with applied mathematics, exploring approximations like the Maxwell-Schrödinger equations and Landau-Pekar dynamics. Recent projects include studying polaron dynamics and relativistic Vlasov equations.
Articles Overview: Recent publications (2019–2023) emphasize rigorous derivations of quantum models, including Gross-Pitaevskii equations and Maxwell-Schrödinger systems. He analyzes error bounds in asymptotic approximations and mechanisms enabling simplified quantum descriptions. Key areas include many-body systems, effective equations, and adiabatic theorems.
Advising & Grants: Currently open to mentoring Ph.D. candidates in his research areas. No listed grants or awards, though his work reflects sustained academic engagement.
Labs & Teams: Affiliated with the Analysis and Mathematical Physics group at Constructor University. Collaborates internationally with researchers like Robert Seiringer (IST Austria) and Chiara Saffirio (University of Basel).
