Nikola Mirilovic, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs (SPSIA) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2009 and has over a decade of teaching experience. Dr. Mirilovic serves as the SPSIA Coordinator for the Honors Undergraduate Thesis Program and has contributed extensively to academic discourse through publications in journals like International Political Science Review and Foreign Policy Analysis.

His research spans religious discrimination, diaspora politics, international migration, and regime type analysis. Recent work explores multidimensional identity cleavages in South Asia and the Middle East, the politics of dual citizenship toleration, and the intersection of religion and state recognition in conflicts such as Kosovo and Western Sahara. He has also published on migration and social policy trends.
Dr. Mirilovic’s recent publications (2015-2025) reveal a focus on dual citizenship, diaspora transnationalism, ethno-religious conflict, and comparative migration governance. His work combines quantitative methods with case studies in contested territories and political ideology.
As an active member of the Kurdish Political Studies Program at UCF, he contributes to initiatives like the Model United Nations in Iraq and Kurdistan Regional Government collaborations.
