Niklas Möller is a Professor of Practical Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Stockholm University. His research focuses on moral philosophy, political philosophy, and applied ethics, with additional interests in risk and safety assessment frameworks. He has conducted significant work on political realism, epistemic norms, and the intersection of democracy with moral values. Möller has collaborated extensively with Eva Erman and other scholars.
- Education: Doctoral Degree in Philosophy (2009, KTH Royal Institute of Technology); Licentiate's Degree in Philosophy (2006, KTH); Master of Science in Engineering Physics (1995, KTH).
Research Interests: Möller explores the role of moral and epistemic norms in political theory, feasibility and justice in climate mitigation, and democratic challenges in AI governance. His work addresses non-ideal theory, pragmatic political methodology, and the conceptual foundations of safety and risk.
Recent Publications: His 2024-2023 articles analyze political realism, epistemic norms, and functional political normativity. Earlier works (2022-2018) examine ideal theory's utility, risk-moral interdependence, and political legitimacy.
Academic Roles: Previously an Associate Professor at Stockholm University and KTH, Möller has held postdoctoral and research fellow positions, including an EC Marie-Curie Intra-European Fellowship at Cambridge University (2009-2011).
