معرفی
Niklas Antonsson is a researcher within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Åbo Akademi University, specialising in theology and religious studies. His work centres on the cultural and theological history of the early-modern Nordic world, particularly the ways in which Swedish sermon literature reflected and shaped societal norms concerning household, children and marriage from 1686 to 1770.
Education & Dissertation:
- Doctor of Theology (2024), Åbo Akademi University – dissertation: For society's bestand and God's wealth: Prästerskapets teaching kring häuslä, barn och äktenskap i svenska postillor 1686–1770.
Research Interests:
His scholarship explores church history, historical theology, and the cultural history of Nordic Christianity. By analysing postilla collections and clerical writings, he investigates how religious discourse negotiated concepts of family, gender roles, and societal order in Lutheran Scandinavia. A recurring theme is the intersection between textual theology and lived religion.
Scholarly Output & Trends:
From 2017 to 2024 he has produced nine scholarly outputs—including monographs, peer-reviewed articles, and critical reviews—covering sermon literature, ecclesiastical historiography, and biblical hermeneutics. His publications illustrate a consistent trajectory towards integrating micro-historical sermon analysis with broader cultural interpretations.
Scientific Activities:
- Co-investigator (CoI) in the international ProNoLa project (Protestant Legacies in Nordic Law), 2016-2019.
- Organiser and participant in the 2024 panel discussion Teologtorsdag: Vart är teologin på väg?
