Niklas Andersson

Niklas Andersson is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Chemical Engineering at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH). He is a member of the LTH Profile Area: Engineering Health. His research focuses on integrating process steps in the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly chromatographic separations and automation of end-to-end processes. He leads the Opti-SITE project (AI tools for urban water solutions) and co-manages the Smart mini factory testbed for biologics production.

Research interests include process optimization, sensor data integration, and sustainable biopharmaceutical manufacturing. He has supervised PhD students like Maria Isaksson in projects funded by VINNOVA and the EU's Horizon 2020 program (CODOBIO). His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable industry and innovation.

Recent publications emphasize buffer recycling in downstream processing, real-time chromatography monitoring, and automation methodologies. He collaborates internationally and has contributed to infrastructure development for small-scale biologics production.
