Nikita Kudakov is a PhD candidate and Researcher at the Department of Music, Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt am Main. His work focuses on rap performance and music production, with a particular emphasis on acoustic analysis, producer-artist dynamics, and sound design in hip hop. Kudakov holds a Master of Arts in Musicology from Goethe University Frankfurt and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts, Music, and Media from Philipps University of Marburg.
His research explores how producers and rappers shape the sonic identity of hip hop, using methods such as timbre analysis and acoustic fingerprinting. Key projects include studies on Dr. Dre's production style, pandemic-era musical adaptations (Covid-19-Version-Songs), and the influence of bass frequencies on audience engagement.
