Dr Nikhil Gokani is a Lecturer at the University of Essex, specializing in Global Public Health Law and Consumer Protection. His research focuses on legal mechanisms to address non-communicable disease risk factors (diets, alcohol, air pollution) and health inequities, bridging public health, EU/international law, and consumer rights. He serves as Chair of the Alcohol Labelling and Health Warning International Expert Group at Eurocare and WHO Europe Technical Advisory Group member on alcohol labelling.

Dr Gokani teaches Contract Law, Consumer Law, and Commercial Law at Essex Law School, while co-designing a postgraduate module on 'Law and the Commercial Determinants of Health' (2024/25). Professional roles include advisory positions at the University of Liverpool's Law & NCD Unit and membership in WHO/NICE committees.
