Dr Nihal Bandara is an Associate Professor in Molecular Microbiology at Bristol Dental School, University of Bristol. As an experienced microbiologist and dentist, he specializes in developing novel molecular and microbiological methodologies for next-generation diagnostic applications and instrumentation.
Research Focus: His work addresses critical challenges in microbiology through studies on Biofilms, Quorum sensing, and Antimicrobial resistance. Key areas include pathogenic interactions in Candida albicans and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, mechanisms of Microbial interactions, and innovations in Biofilm drug delivery. His research also explores Saliva as a diagnostic medium and Oral candidiasis prevention, bridging microbiology and dentistry.
