Nigel Grimmer

Nigel Grimmer is a Senior Lecturer in Visual Arts Practice at the University of Bedfordshire's School of Arts and Creative Industries, where he serves as Curriculum Leader for Contemporary Arts Practice and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Art and Design. He concurrently holds a Visiting Lecturer position in Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire. Grimmer holds an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins and a BA in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University.

His research critically examines photographic portraiture through anti-portraiture techniques, focusing on domestic photography (family albums) and social media self-portraits. He challenges traditional photography's exploitative nature by obscuring subjects' faces and employing mixed-media disruptions, advocating for democratic artistic collaboration. Key projects include Art Drag, Roadkill Family Album, and Viral Disruptions.
