Nigel Crook

Professor Nigel Crook (BSc, PhD) is Dean of Research and Innovation at the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology, Oxford Brookes University. He leads implementation of the university's Research and Knowledge Exchange strategy while directing the Institute for Ethical Artificial Intelligence as Founding Director.

His research interests span:

• Ethical Artificial Intelligence and autonomous moral machines
• Biologically inspired machine learning
• Embodied conversational agents
• Social robotics and human-robot interaction

Recent research initiatives focus on developing:

• Moral competence in robots for action consequence recognition
• Explainable AI systems for ML decision transparency
• Automatic personality typing for personalized interaction
