Prof. Nigel Cooper is a Professor at the University of Cambridge's Cavendish Laboratory, affiliated with the Department of Physics under the Faculty of Mathematics. He holds a D.Phil from the University of Oxford (1994) and has held research positions at Harvard University and the Institut Laue Langevin. His research focuses on quantum mechanical effects in many-particle systems, particularly topology in ultra-cold atomic gases and electronic materials. He has received prestigious awards including the Maxwell Medal (2007), Humboldt Award (2013), and Simons Investigator Award (2017).
Research interests include novel phases of matter, topological phases, quantum oscillations, and excitonic insulators.
