Nigel Clayton is a Professor of Piano and Collaborative Piano Professor at the Royal College of Music (RCM), with additional roles as Visiting Professor at the North East of Scotland Music School. He studied at RCM, earning BMus, ARCM, and FRCM qualifications, winning multiple prizes during his studies. His career spans over 40 years of international performance, including tours across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and America. Clayton specialises in piano performance, chamber music, and collaborative accompaniment, collaborating with renowned artists like Michael Collins and the Chillingirian Quartet. He has recorded nine commercial CDs and serves as accompanist for the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition.
Award highlights include RCM's top Bachelor of Music prize and international competition accolades. His teaching spans roles at RCM, a Surrey specialist piano school, and the North East of Scotland Music School. Clayton maintains an active performance schedule with over 80 concerts annually, performing at venues like the Wigmore Hall and Royal Albert Hall.
