Niels Keiding was a Professor at the Department of Public Health, Section of Biostatistics, University of Copenhagen. His research focused on Public Health, Biostatistics, and Theoretical Statistics. He passed away on March 3, 2022.
He held leadership roles including President of the International Statistical Institute (2005–2007) and Vice President of the Biometric Society (1991–1994). He was also a key contributor to academic journals, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Scandinavian Journal of Statistics (1988–1989).

- Foreign Member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (2005)
His professional affiliations included the Bernoulli Society (Treasurer, 1981–1987) and the Royal Statistical Society’s Research Section Committee (1999–2003).
