Nicholas P. Jewell is a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley (School of Public Health, Department of Biostatistics) and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (Professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology). He has held multiple academic roles since 1981, including Vice Provost at Berkeley and Assistant Professor at Princeton University.
- Education: PhD in Mathematics (University of Edinburgh, 1976), BA in Applied Mathematics (University of Edinburgh, 1973), Harkness Fellowship (1976–1978).
His research focuses on statistical methods for infectious diseases, epidemiological data analysis, survival analysis, and genomics. Recent work includes statistical design for dengue prevention trials using Wolbachia and pandemic modeling for SARS-CoV-2.
