Nicoletta Nappo

Nicoletta Nappo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology and Junior Consultant–Researcher at Deltares. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of Insubria (Italy), where she specialized in remote sensing techniques for monitoring subsidence and landslide impacts on constructions. She has professional experience at the University of Twente and Sapienza University of Rome and holds qualifications as a Civil Environmental Engineer with an MSc in Building Engineering and Architecture.

Her research focuses on geotechnical engineering applications, particularly subsidence monitoring in the Netherlands through the Living on Soft Soil (LOSS) Project. Dr. Nappo specializes in assessing road damage due to landslides and analyzing vulnerability of constructions subjected to ground instabilities. Her methodological approach combines UAV-based photogrammetry, remote sensing techniques, and GIS integration for infrastructure monitoring. Her publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to Engineering Geology, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, and Remote Sensing journals.

Dr. Nappo's recent work shows a clear progression toward developing decision support frameworks for subsidence risk reduction in urban areas, with publications extending through 2025. Her research bridges theoretical geotechnical analysis with practical engineering solutions for infrastructure protection in geohazard-prone environments. She serves as a reviewer for the Landslides international journal, contributing to scholarly discourse in her field.
