Nicole Wright is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado. Her research focuses on shifting conceptions of justice, personhood, and representation in 18th- and early 19th-century British literature and culture. She explores the history of the novel alongside interdisciplinary interests in science, law, and emotion theories, alongside African American fiction and poetry. Her work examines themes of witnessing, advocacy, and representation across scientific, legal, and cultural contexts.
Her research interests include the interplay between legal narratives and literary form, the role of affect in historical discourse, and minority self-assertion within mainstream cultural frameworks. She has published on figures like Jane Austen, Henry Fielding, and Maria Edgeworth, analyzing how literature engages with legal, scientific, and social systems.
Dr. Wright’s articles address topics ranging from the evolution of judicial sensibility in 18th-century narratives to the reinterpretation of classic texts through modern political lenses. Her work bridges literary analysis with historical and cultural studies, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches.
