Nicole Stadnick

Nicole Stadnick, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she also serves as Director of Dissemination and Evaluation for the UC San Diego Dissemination and Implementation Science Center. She is a licensed psychologist and researcher at the Child and Adolescent Services Research Center. Her work spans community, pediatric, and global health systems, with a strong focus on equity and sustainability of evidence-based practices.

Dr. Stadnick holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and an MPH in Epidemiology, and completed her postdoctoral training at UCSD. Her research centers on implementation science, particularly in underserved and cross-system contexts such as federally qualified health centers, low- and middle-income countries, and public mental health services. She employs mixed methods and community-engaged approaches to study how to scale and sustain effective interventions in real-world settings.

Her recent publications span topics including autism and mental health integration, HIV prevention, policy implementation (particularly earmarked taxes for mental health), and pandemic response (e.g., CO-CREATE and STOP COVID-19 CA studies). These works reflect a strong emphasis on team science, stakeholder engagement, and methodological innovation in implementation research.

Dr. Stadnick has received multiple honors, including the 2020 Early Career Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies’ Dissemination & Implementation Science SIG, and NIH-funded fellowships from the Implementation Research Institute and the Mixed Methods Training Program.

She leads or co-leads numerous federally funded projects, including NIH/NIMH, NIH/NIMHD, and HRSA grants, focusing on suicide prevention in the military, community-driven vaccine uptake, and strengthening research infrastructure in Nigeria. Her work consistently emphasizes collaboration, equity, and sustainability in health service delivery.

Dr. Stadnick is actively involved in mentoring and team science, contributing to efforts to build implementation research capacity and advance methods in dissemination and implementation science.
