Nicole Marrone, PhD, CCC-A, is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies/AuD in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona, holding the James S. and Dyan Pignatelli Clinical Chair in Audiologic Rehabilitation for Adults. Her research focuses on improving hearing loss rehabilitation outcomes, particularly in underserved populations, through interventions like hearing aids and teleaudiology. She leads interdisciplinary projects addressing healthcare access disparities in rural and border communities, collaborating with the College of Public Health, Spanish and Portuguese Department, and community organizations such as Mariposa Community Health Center.
Dr. Marrone’s academic journey includes a PhD from Boston University (2007), a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University, and prior clinical experience at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Her teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses, integrating service-learning projects with community partners like Arizona Hands and Voices and the Adult Loss of Hearing Association.
Her research emphasizes equitable hearing care solutions, including the HEARS RCT project and community health worker培训 programs. Awards include the 2025 Provost’s Community Impact Award, ASHA Fellow designation (2020), and the Galileo Circle Curie Award (2020). She directs the Living Well with Hearing Loss (LWHL) Program, fostering communication strategies for those with hearing loss and their partners.
