Nicole Immorlica is a Professor of Computer Science at Yale University's School of Engineering & Applied Science. She holds a Ph.D. and B.Sc. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and maintains affiliations with Microsoft Research as a researcher.
Her research explores the intersection of economics and computation, with applications to market design, auction theory, and social network dynamics. She investigates how simple behaviors in complex systems generate emergent structures affecting social capital, segregation patterns, and learning outcomes.
Her recent publications focus on algorithmic game theory, generative AI's economic impact, fairness in machine learning, and information design in online platforms. Work trends show strong emphasis on mechanism robustness, behavioral economics in digital environments, and network-driven inequality.
Awards & Honors:
- ACM Fellow
- Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory Fellow
- SIGecom Test of Time Award
She advises current and former PhD students including Jerry Anunrojwong, Yorgos Askalidis, and Emmanouil Pountourakis. Collaborates extensively with Microsoft Research on projects involving algorithmic economics and social network analysis.
