Nicole Giuliani

Nicole Giuliani is an Evergreen Associate Professor at the University of Oregon, affiliated with the College of Education, Prevention Science Graduate Program, and Special Education and Clinical Sciences Department. Her work focuses on affective science, self-regulation, and health behaviors, with a particular emphasis on family dynamics and neuroimaging.

Dr. Giuliani employs diverse methodologies—including neuroimaging, behavioral coding, and ecological momentary assessment—to investigate how individuals regulate emotions, how this relates to health behaviors like dietary choices, and how self-regulation develops through parental influence in early childhood. Her research also explores neighborhood safety effects on mental health and the role of physical activity in adolescent sleep patterns.

Recent publications highlight trends in intergenerational emotion regulation, food reward systems, and pandemic-related stress impacts. She is part of the Health Promotion and Obesity Prevention faculty cluster and accepts PhD students in School Psychology.
