Nicole Brockmann is a Lecturer in Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music and resident faculty at the Dalcroze Training Center. With over two decades of college-level teaching experience, she specializes in Eurhythmics and improvisation-based ear training for classical musicians.
Education:
- Dalcroze License — Carnegie Mellon University
- DMA and additional graduate music degrees — Yale University
Her research and teaching focus on embodied music learning: using Dalcroze Eurhythmics to connect movement, aural perception, and instrumental performance. She designs improvisational frameworks that enable single-line instrumentalists to interact harmonically and creatively in real time.
Brockmann’s sole-authored volume From Sight to Sound: Improvisational Games for Classical Musicians (Indiana University Press, 2009) distills her classroom methods into practical exercises for performers and educators.
No recent peer-reviewed articles, funded grants, or formal student lists are available in the supplied material; her creative output is concentrated in pedagogical publications and workshop leadership.
