Nicole Borges, PhD, is the Chair of Medical Education and the Edward Tulloh Krumm Professor of Medical Education at the Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College. Appointed by Dean Duane Compton, she leads the Department of Medical Education, established in 2016, which focuses on fostering educational excellence through collaboration, creativity, and scholarship. Her leadership has strengthened the department's identity as an academic hub for medical educators, scholars, and specialists aligned with Geisel’s mission.
Borges, a health psychologist with over 25 years in medical education, has been recognized nationally for her contributions to medical education research. In 2025, she received the Merrell Flair Award for advancing the medical education community. Under her guidance, the department collaborates closely with Geisel’s Office of Educational Affairs, foundational/clinical departments, and Dartmouth Health to innovate teaching methods and faculty development programs.
Her vision emphasizes expanding educational excellence, evidenced by invitations to share the department’s model with other institutions. Key achievements include faculty recruitment, promotions, and annual awards recognizing teaching excellence (e.g., Distinguished Lecturer, Best Pre-Clinical Educator). Borges aims to further integrate respect, care, and scholarly rigor into Geisel’s educational mission.
