Nicole Andrews

Dr. Nicole Andrews is a Research Fellow at the RECOVER Injury Research Centre within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland. She is also an Affiliate of the Centre for Innovation in Pain and Health Research (CIPHeR). Her work focuses on chronic pain management, activity pacing, and digital health interventions.

Her research explores the intersection of chronic pain and human behavior, particularly in domains like driving safety, vocational rehabilitation, and mobile health (mHealth). Recent projects include AI-driven chatbots (Dolores) and GPS-based mobility assessments.

Current funding includes the 2024-2025 Metro South Health Research Support Scheme Project Grant for personalizing non-pharmacological chronic pain management. Past grants span topics from pediatric app usability to road trauma recovery.

She supervises PhD research on "Untangling the relationships between dyadic coping, adult attachment, couple relationships, chronic pain and function", with Emeritus Professor Jenny Strong as co-supervisor. Her affiliations emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration across pain science, digital innovation, and rehabilitation.
