Nicolas M Phielipp

Nicolas M Phielipp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine. His research focuses on the clinical application of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for pain management, particularly in patients with implanted cortical electrodes.

His work includes evaluating the safety of rTMS protocols using ex-vivo experiments and clinical trials. A 2017 study demonstrated that TMS was safe for patients with subdural cortical electrodes (Medtronic Resume II, model 3587A), with no electrode displacement or serious adverse effects observed.
