Nicolas Giraud

Nicolas Giraud is a Professor at the École nationale supérieure de la photographie (ENSP) in Arles and has been affiliated with the University of Paris 1 La Sorbonne since 2012. He lives and works in Arles and Paris, specializing in artistic research focused on the mechanisms of image construction and circulation. His work extends into curatorial activities, research initiatives, and academic teaching.

Giraud's research explores interdisciplinary intersections of visual arts, photography theory, and curatorial practice, emphasizing the sociocultural dynamics of imagery. He directs the research project Usage du temps at ENSP, investigating temporal dimensions of visual media.

His artistic portfolio is represented internationally by mfc michèle didier (Paris) and Frank Dumont (Los Angeles) galleries, with works held in prominent collections including FRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and FRAC Champagne-Ardenne. Since 2015, he has served as editor-in-chief of the academic journal Infra-mince.
