Nicolae Apostolescu

Nicolae Apostolescu serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi. With over 25 years of academic experience since joining the institution in 1995, he has progressed through the ranks from Tutor to his current position established in 2016.

His educational background includes:

• Engineer degree (1994) from Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, Faculty of Industrial Chemistry (Technology of Inorganic Substances)
• Advanced studies (1995) in Anti-Corrosion Protection from same institution
• Doctorate (2003) in Chemical Engineering with thesis on "Diversified catalysts for the reduction of nitrogen oxides"

A leading researcher in corrosion science and catalytic materials, Apostolescu's work spans environmental remediation, inorganic synthesis, and advanced material characterization. His laboratory employs sophisticated techniques including XRD, UV-Vis, FTIR, and TG-DTG-FTIR thermogravimetry to develop innovative solutions for pollution control and material protection. His research bridges fundamental chemical engineering principles with practical industrial applications, particularly in environmental protection and sustainable material development.

Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on environmental applications of advanced materials, with significant contributions to photocatalysis for wastewater treatment, corrosion-resistant alloys for biomedical applications, and resource recovery from industrial waste streams. As an educator, he teaches multiple courses including Industrial Heterogeneous Catalysts, Manufacturing Processes for Special Inorganic Materials, and Anti-Corrosion Protection, while authoring several textbooks on nuclear materials technology, special inorganic materials, and mineralogy. His academic leadership extends to directing research teams focused on developing catalytic materials and corrosion protection technologies through both fundamental and applied research projects.
