Nicola Limodio is an Associate Professor of Finance at Bocconi University. His research focuses on financial institutions in emerging markets, political economy, and development. He holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (2017) and has held visiting positions at Princeton University and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Limodio was awarded an ERC Starting Grant (2023) for his project on 'Financial Institutions and Development.' His work examines challenges faced by financial institutions in low- and middle-income countries, with projects in Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Colombia.
Research interests include the intersection of finance, development, and political economy, with a focus on topics like mobile money interoperability, banking sector reforms, and terrorism financing. Teaching includes courses on financial markets and econometrics. Key awards include the ERC grant, and his work has been published in top journals like the Review of Financial Studies, Econometrica, and Management Science.
Limodio collaborates with institutions such as the World Bank and has organized conferences like the WEFIDEV-RFS-CEPR. His research often combines novel datasets and quasi-experimental methods to analyze policy impacts on financial inclusion and economic outcomes.
