Nicola Latimer is a part-time researcher at the Centre for Research in English Language Learning and Assessment (CRELLA) at the University of Bedfordshire. She holds a Master’s in Applied Linguistics and a PhD in Language Assessment, both from the University of Bedfordshire. Her work focuses on language skill assessment, particularly reading, writing, and listening, with a specialization in accommodations for dyslexia using technologies like eye-tracking and keystroke logging.
She leads research projects related to international language tests such as IELTS and Aptis, mentors postgraduate students, and serves on professional committees including the International Language Testing Association JEDI task force. CRELLA provides a collaborative environment for her research initiatives and academic contributions.
Nicola actively supervises research students, including Anna Raneri, whose work examines integrated feedback mechanisms in English essay writing. She contributes to academic discourse as a reviewer and editor, notably leading a special issue on reading and eye-tracking in language assessment.
