Dr. Nicola Dean is a Professor at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Medicine and Public Health and the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. She holds a medical degree from Leeds University, a PhD in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, and advanced surgical qualifications. Her clinical and research focus centers on plastic and reconstructive surgery, particularly breast reconstruction for breast cancer patients, patient-reported outcomes, and surgical outcomes analysis.
Education: MB ChB (Leeds), FRCS (Eng), PhD (Adelaide), FRACS(Plas). Teaching focuses on Anatomy, Surgical Sciences, and Plastic Surgery.
Research Interests: Post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, mammary hypertrophy, patient-reported outcomes in hand surgery, and surgical outcomes measurement. She has supervised multiple students, including Kyra Sierakowski and Dr. Ben Howes, and has published extensively on breast surgery outcomes and patient-centered care.
