Nicky Jones

Nicky Jones is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law and Justice at the University of Southern Queensland, based at the Ipswich Campus (Office T122). With 15 years of tertiary teaching experience, Dr Jones serves as Programs Director (Law) and teaches core courses including Public International Law and Human Rights & Anti-Discrimination Law while directing the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Qualifications include a BFrLang&Lit from Orleans, BA(Hons) and LLB(Hons) from Queensland, GDipLegPrac from Collaw, and a PhD from Queensland. Dr Jones maintains professional fluency in French as a non-accredited translator.

Research centers on Public International Law, Human Rights Law, and the intersection of legal frameworks with societal structures, particularly examining secularism, religious freedom, anti-discrimination mechanisms, and consumer protection systems within contemporary socio-legal contexts.

As a research supervisor, Dr Jones guides postgraduate work in Law and Society, Socio-Legal Research, and Law in Context, contributing to critical analysis of legal institutions' societal impacts through interdisciplinary methodologies.
