Nicklas Højgaard-Hessellund Rasmussen is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University, affiliated with the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aalborg University Hospital and the Department of Endocrinology. His research focuses on diabetes complications, bone health, fracture risk, and endocrine disorders, with a particular emphasis on epidemiological studies and clinical outcomes. He holds dual affiliations with Steno Diabetes Center North Denmark and Aalborg University, combining academic and clinical expertise.
His research interests include the interplay between diabetes, bone metabolism, and fracture risk, as well as the effects of medications like glucocorticoids on metabolic health. He has received the DDEA Early-Career Researcher Award 2024 for his contributions to advancing understanding of diabetes-related fracture risks.
