Nicklas Hållén is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at Karlstad University, Sweden. His research focuses on postcolonial literature, African literature, travel writing, and cultural studies. He has published extensively on topics such as narrative silence in African fiction, urban aesthetics in Nairobi, and digital publishing initiatives in Nigeria. Hållén’s work often bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis, addressing themes of identity, space, and cultural representation.
His research interests span postcolonial discourse, the poetics of marginalized literary forms (e.g., street literature), and the intersection of technology with cultural production. Notable projects include studies on OkadaBooks’ role in Nigerian digital publishing and investigations into how travel narratives construct notions of self and otherness.
Hållén frequently collaborates with international scholars, as seen in co-authored works on African street literature and anthropomorphic representations in texts. His articles appear in journals like English Studies in Africa, Journal of Commonwealth Literature, and Research in African Literatures, showcasing his engagement with both canonical and emergent literary forms.
He holds a PhD in Literary Studies and has contributed peer reviews for major academic publications. His teaching and research emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to understanding global cultural dynamics.
