Nick Tyson is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA), part of Lancaster University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He leads academic roles including Undergraduate Architectural Technology and BA Architecture Year 2 coordination. His teaching focuses on Design Studio and Architectural Technology modules. Tyson has extensive industry experience with firms like Dixon Jones Architects and Tonkin Liu Architects, contributing to award-winning cultural projects such as The Royal Opera House in London. He co-founded Chung Tyson Architects (2001), an interdisciplinary studio emphasizing 'design through making.' Research interests include regenerative materials, circular economy principles, and sustainable timber construction. Collaborations include the Lancaster Music Co-operative and Jateen Lad Architects (India).
