معرفی
Nick Tsarevsky is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Southern Methodist University (SMU), Department of Chemistry. He holds affiliations with the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. His research focuses on controlled polymerization methods, particularly atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), nanostructured materials for biomedical and optoelectronic applications, transition metal catalyzed polymerizations, and green synthetic methodologies. He is also active in science education and the history of chemistry.
Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry (2005, Carnegie Mellon University), M.S. in Chemical Physics and Theoretical Chemistry (1999, University of Sofia). His thesis work under Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski involved ATRP synthesis of well-defined polymeric materials.
Research interests span ATRP mechanisms, functional polymer design, and applications in drug delivery, nanotechnology, and sustainable chemistry. He has received prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award (2015) and IUPAC Young Observer Fellowship (2015).
Professional service includes roles on the Master of Liberal Studies Academic Council at SMU, leadership in the American Chemical Society (ACS), and editorial roles in journals like Polymers and Polymer.
Teaching includes courses on polymer chemistry, science in art, and advanced polymer synthesis. He has advised numerous graduate students and published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, contributing significantly to polymer science and education.
