Dr. Nick Seymour is a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University's School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS) and a member of the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (CIRA). He holds a MPhys from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Southampton. His research focuses on galaxy evolution, supermassive black holes, and high-redshift radio galaxies, with leadership of the High-z Radio Galaxy Group since 2021.
He has held positions at institutions including the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris, Spitzer Science Center, and CSIRO Astronomy & Space Science, and was awarded an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship (2011–2015). His work involves major radio surveys like GLEAM, ASKAP, and planning for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).
Key research interests include the evolution of galaxies and their central black holes, radio surveys of extragalactic objects, and the study of powerful active galactic nuclei. He coordinates courses like 'Introduction to Astronomy' and 'Exploring the Radio Universe.'
Notable awards include the EU Research Training Network Fellowship (2002–2004) and Fellow of the Astronomical Society of Australia. His contributions extend to roles in committees such as the Radio Telescope Advisory Committee for Astronomy Australia Limited.
Research highlights include studies on radio galaxy morphology, AGN energetics, and collaborations on projects like the MeerKAT international GHz tiered extragalactic exploration (MIGHTEE) survey.
