Dr. Marcin Glowacki is an Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University's School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, affiliated with the Curtin Research Institute and Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (CIRA). He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney/CASS and has held roles including IDIA Postdoctoral Research Fellow (University of the Western Cape, 2018-2021) and Research Associate at Curtin University (2021-present). His research focuses on HI absorption/emission, obscured quasars, megamasers, fast radio bursts (FRBs), and hydrodynamical simulations. Glowacki has co-taught courses in Extragalactic Astronomy and Computational Astronomy through the NASSP system at the University of Cape Town, and has extensive experience in tutoring and supervising undergraduates in computational science and physics at the University of Sydney.
His work spans observational astronomy using facilities like MeerKAT and ASKAP, with contributions to surveys like MIGHTEE, FLASH, and WALLABY. Key areas include FRB host galaxy studies, H I mass functions, and plasma birefringence effects. His recent publications (2023-2025) explore FRB polarization variations, H I detection asymmetries, and the discovery of long-period radio pulsars. Glowacki collaborates widely on cosmological studies and radio transient detection, contributing to projects like CRAFT and FLIMFLAM.
