Nick Kontogeorgopoulos

Nick Kontogeorgopoulos is a Professor of International Political Economy and Dean of Experiential Learning at the University of Puget Sound. He holds a BA in International Studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (1992), an MA in Geography from the University of Toronto (1994), and a PhD in Geography from the University of British Columbia (1998).

His teaching focuses on the political economy of international tourism, international development, and Southeast Asia. Research interests include tourism's impact on environmental sustainability, community development, and personal values. He has conducted fieldwork in Thailand, examining ecotourism dynamics, volunteer tourism's role in development, and tourism's influence on elephant conservation efforts. His work bridges geography, political economy, and sustainable development.
