Dr. Nick Jennings is the Vice Provost (Research) at Imperial College London, where he holds a Chair in Artificial Intelligence across the Departments of Computing and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He previously served as the UK government’s inaugural Chief Scientific Adviser for National Security from 2010 to 2015, providing independent scientific guidance on national security issues.
His research focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and its applications in complex systems, including autonomous systems, cyber-physical infrastructure, and decision-making under uncertainty. Jennings has contributed to the development of methodologies for managing large-scale distributed systems and has explored the ethical implications of AI in national security contexts.
