Nick Fox is an Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), where he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in contemporary music. He holds a Master of Music (MM) from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Music (BM) from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His academic mentors include Dr. Daniel Piccolo, Dr. Gregory Beyer, Tobie Wilkinson, Dr. Patti Cudd, and Michael Mixtacki.
As a dedicated percussionist and educator, Fox focuses on expanding the contemporary percussion repertoire through performances, commissions, and collaborations. He is a founding member of three groups: Altered Sound Duo, Undue, and Landlocked Percussion, which specialize in contemporary chamber works and new compositions. These ensembles have commissioned over 20 works and toured extensively, performing at over 20 universities and venues across the Midwest and East Coast.
His professional engagements include solo performances at six universities and arts clubs, as well as collaborations with notable artists like Jan Williams, Tony Arnold, and members of the JACK Quartet. Fox has received prestigious fellowships at the New Music On the Point Festival (2017–2020) and grants supporting new music initiatives, travel, and festival participation.
Committed to new music advocacy, Fox actively commissions works from composers such as Matthew Burtner and Christopher Burns, contributing to the evolution of percussion performance practices.
