Nick Ellison is Professor of Social Policy at the University of York and Chair of the UK Social Policy Association. His research explores citizenship, globalization, and digital governance.
Key interests include welfare state transformations under global economic pressures, social media's impact on local democracy, and theories of citizenship. Recent work examines COVID-19 inequalities in European welfare systems and predictors of community engagement.
Ellison chaired REF Sub-Panel 20 (Social Work and Social Policy) and serves on editorial boards including Journal of Social Policy. His publications include the 'Handbook on Society and Social Policy' and analyses of UK welfare reforms.
