Professor Nick Bullock is a Reader in Architectural and Planning History and a Fellow of King’s College at the University of Cambridge. He holds a primary affiliation with the Department of Architecture within the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art. His academic focus spans architectural history, architectural theory, and urban planning history, with a particular emphasis on post-war reconstruction in Europe. He has published extensively on modern architecture and reconstruction strategies, notably his 2003 book Planning the Post-War World: Modern Architecture and Reconstruction in Britain. Current research explores post-war reconstruction in France and Germany, extending his expertise beyond national boundaries.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on architectural history, planning history, and architectural theory. As a Fellow of King’s College, he also serves as a Director of Studies, overseeing undergraduate and graduate teaching in architectural disciplines. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary urban challenges, emphasizing the intersection of design, politics, and societal recovery.
