Nick Angeloff is a Lecturer & Research Associate in Archaeology at the Department of Anthropology, California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. He serves as Advisor to the Cultural Resource Facility (CRF) and holds multiple roles in tribal and federal agencies, including Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria. With over 20 years of experience, he specializes in Cultural Resources Management (CRM), prehistoric/historic archaeology, and tribal consultation. He has managed hundreds of archaeological projects across California, Oregon, and Nevada, focusing on surveys, excavations, and compliance with federal/state regulations.
- Education: BA in Anthropology/Minor in Native American Studies from Humboldt State University (1998); MA in Anthropology from California State University Sacramento (2011).
Research interests include prehistoric settlement patterns, tribal sovereignty in cultural resource management, and the intersection of archaeology with federal policy. He has developed groundbreaking consultation protocols used nationally, including the Tribal Historic Preservation Office template for Bear River Band. His work spans from small-scale residential surveys to large reservoir projects like Lake Oroville and Shasta Lake.

He has represented tribal interests at the White House during Obama’s administration and served as a delegate in national ocean policy working groups. His publications focus on Borax Lake assemblages, climate change impacts, and tribal-federal agreements.
