Nicholous Deal

Dr. Nicholous Deal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business and Tourism at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), specializing in management, nonprofit leadership, and strategic human resource management. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University and has taught at multiple institutions across Atlantic Canada. His research focuses on management history, critical historiography, and the intersection of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDIA) in organizational contexts.

Deal’s academic journey includes roles at Dalhousie University, Crandall University, and Cape Breton University. He has been honored with four ‘Professor of the Year’ awards and the 2024 Mount’s Alumni Early Career Teaching Award. His research explores historical analyses of management practices, Canadian management theory, and storytelling methodologies.

His publications span journals like Management Learning and Journal of Management History, emphasizing themes such as microhistory, actor-network theory, and the role of historical narratives in modern organizations. Deal also serves as an editorial board member for Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management and Journal of Management History.

Community engagement includes leadership roles at the Halifax West Ecumenical Food Bank and One Church. His grants include SSHRC-funded research on Canadian management knowledge and internal MSVU grants supporting his work. Deal actively contributes to academic conferences, focusing on historical organization studies and critical management perspectives.
