She collaborates with the USDA Agricultural Research Service and New Mexico State University as part of the NSF's Long Term Ecological Research Network, focusing on ecosystem state transitions in the Chihuahuan Desert.
Education:
- PhD in Biological Sciences, University of Illinois at Chicago (2022)
- BA in Biology, Eckerd College (2013)
Research interests include plant-soil interactions, ecosystem memory and legacy effects, climate change impacts, and traditional ecological knowledge. Her work integrates geographical information systems, earth system models, and environmental impact assessments for dryland conservation and scenario planning.
Scientific awards include the Graduate Research Award (2022) and Graduate Teaching Award (2021) from UIC, Ecologist in Training certification (2019), and UIC HOPE Award (2018). She also received a National Coalition for the Homeless Certificate (2011).
Research groups include the Sala Lab at Arizona State University. Her publications focus on root system plasticity, litter decomposition, and ecosystem resilience in drylands.
